For sale a Gottsu "Tone Master 2021" #7★ tenor saxophone mouthpiece (0,105").
Price: EUR 420 including UPS shipping.
Shipping from North East Italy (EU).
Here for sale a Gottsu "Tone Master 2021" #7* (0,105").
This is the latest version of the "Tone Master" from the japanese master refacer Masahiko Goto (Gottsu is his nickname, from childhood).
The "Tone Master 2021" is an actual tribute to the original Otto Link Tone Master from the 40's, almost a 1-to-1 clone of the original Otto Link used by people like John Coltrane, Hank Mobley, Charlie Rouse, Coleman Hawkins... Grossman, Liebman... and recently Chris Potter.
It features a big large chamber, deeply undercut internal side rail and a medium roll-over baffle. The facing is not as long as on the Otto Links (which did even not exist in a #7*) and this because people like Coltrane used to have "shorter" facings... in order to get overall a clear sound from a mouthpiece naturally dark sounding. It's a rather free blowing mouthpiece.
The legacy of the original Tone Master is still here, even considering there very few manufacturers which offer "Tone Master inspired mouthpiece".
The mouthpiece still has the versatility we expect from a vintage "Super Tone Master" with a more "direct feel" because of the shape of the chamber and the floor slope.
